How to Use the CGPA Calculator
This tool is designed to be simple and intuitive. To get the most accurate results, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Enter Your Current Standing: In the first section on the main page, input your current CGPA and the total number of credits you have completed so far. You can find this information on your official student profile on the EWU Portal.
- Step 2: Add New Semester Courses: In the "New Semester Courses" table, add each new course you are taking this semester. Enter the course name (optional), the grade you expect to receive, and the credit hours for that course.
- Step 3: Add Retake Courses: If you are retaking any courses this semester, use the "Retake Course Calculation" table. Here you need to enter the previous grade you received and the new grade you expect, along with the course credits. The calculator will automatically handle the complex logic for retakes.
Tips for Improving Your CGPA
Maintaining a strong CGPA is vital for academic scholarships, future career opportunities, and postgraduate admissions. Here are a few strategic tips based on the EWU grading system:
- Understand the Impact of High-Credit Courses: A good grade in a 4.5-credit course has a much greater positive impact on your CGPA than the same grade in a 3-credit course. Focus your efforts on securing high grades in these core, high-credit courses to see the most improvement.
- Plan Ahead with the Calculator: Use this tool not just to calculate past performance, but to plan for the future. Enter hypothetical grades for your current courses to see how different outcomes could affect your final CGPA. This can help you set realistic academic goals for the semester.
